What Happened on May 24 1990 Life was going well for the Humbards. But on May 24, 1990, at around 5:30 am, out popped a brilliant young man named Doug Humbard. He was a normal sized baby, except for a uniquely huge head. With a new member in the family, Scott Humbard was in for a long, long trip.
Born in Princeton, New Jersey with all of his family members around to see that good looking young man, Doug was quite the shy one. At the time Doug was born, his dad Scott was forking (Do you mean working?) for the man that Doug was named after, his grandpa Doug Anderson. In baseball, one of Doug’s favorite sports, his favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies played in the first ever MLB night game against the Cincinnati Reds on May 24, 1935. There were 25,000 people that attended this game and MLB teams than (Use then here, not than.) started to have most of their games at night because of the larger crowds. Though there is still one team that plays a majority of their home games during the day.
There were also a lot of other big events that happened on May 24 or during 1990. On May 24, 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge opened. It took 14 years to build and 27 lives were lost during the making of it. In a gigantic defeat, Temba Tsheri became the youngest person ever to successfully climb to the top of Mt. Everest. He did this when he was only 16 years and 14 days old and it took place in 2001.
On the date May 24, there are 8 holidays that are observed throughout the world. They are Victoria Day in Canada, Methodius Day in Eastern Orthodox, Bulgarian Education a culture and Slavonic literature day, Slavonic Enlighers Day, Bermuda Day, National Day in Erirea, Aldersdaygate Day (Methodism), and Buddha’s Birthday which is celebrated by China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.
On September 27, 1990, there was officially an “X” rating for movies and shows that had a lot of nudity in them. Also in the year of 1990, there were extremely low prices for some of man’s everyday need (s). They are the following: bread was only $ .69 a loaf, milk was $2.15 a gallon, eggs were $1.30 per dozen, and the average gallon of gas cost only $1.22. Also in 1990, some very popular TV shows started playing (Use airing instead of playing). With 3 of them still running new episodes, they are still just as good now as they were when they started. The most popular of them is The Simpsons.
Doug also shares the same birth date May 24, with many celebrities. Here’s just a small taste of who some are: Bob Dylan and Rosanne Cash (Johnny Cash’s daughter).
